How to make a Release

CD Station, Dec 7, 2017

So, how do you make a release?

Making a release ©

Well, there are several ways of releasing:

1. Prepare your release

2. Release Online

3. Promote

4. Alternative releasing

Make sure you master ©

1. Prepare your release

Well, what is to verify now? Those things:

  • Do you have an album art?
  • -----------------
  • Have you made a pre-release?
  • -----------------
  • Do you have your merch ready?
  • -----------------
  • Are your songs mastered, tagged and arranged in an album / Ep?
  • -----------------
  • Do you have a mailing list?
  • -----------------
  • Have you discussed with your music aggregator (if you have such a thing)?
  • -----------------
  • Did you think your Seo?
  • -----------------
  • Do you have a website?
  • -----------------
  • Is it the right time to release?
  • -----------------
  • Do you have social media stats and accounts to send your release to?
  • -----------------
  • Is your music film done?
  • -----------------

I will now tell you how I prepare my releases. I verify that my songs are done, tagged and arranged in an album, then, I make myself a txt file with the tags.

The tags that you put on your soundfile are not the tags that social media recognises. So, make sure you know them. Get my Seo scheme to know more on that:

Then, get to your social media accounts and ask yourself if you have enough follows to be thrusted (how to do that also on the scheme).

2. Release Online

How do you release online? Well, get your soundfiles to the right bitrate and sample rate and then, your album art to the right size. Upload them. Then:

  • Send a mail with the release (mailing list).
  • -----------------
  • Go to social media exchange and have it make you likes etc.
  • -----------------
  • Send social messages (like 4 like-s).
  • -----------------
  • Post on relevant blogs and chats.
  • -----------------
  • Redirrect a lot to the release.
  • -----------------
  • Make sure you include a like 4 download with every release.
  • -----------------

Make a like 4 download request for your entire release! Get to a certain site that offers this.⇢ Sites that do this for you If they want to download it they might as well like it.

Then, send the entire release information, with the like 4 download request to your mailing list and your social media account list. Tell then, for example that you included the samples with the release (more likely to download).

Now, also, make sure you get on blogs, chats and that you comment to redirrect a lot.

3. Promote

What is more with promotion? Well, if you sell merch, then you have to have a website. Also, you have to release on every large social media platform.

Even so, you have to have a main social media platform that you release on, as well as a site that sells things for you (Bandcamp) and on the rest of social media, make posts to redirrect to those.

Then, redirrect to the release a lot. That is basically it.

You could also promote yourself through shows and through Sms, stay tuned.

4. Alternative releasing

The main release has to be online. Now, you could also release and / or promote:

  • At a show.
  • -----------------
  • Through your music aggregator
  • -----------------
  • On the radio.
  • -----------------
  • By sending Sms-es.
  • -----------------
  • On a youtube channel (that is or isn't yours).
  • -----------------
  • To your family.
  • -----------------

With the last, things are not that unfortunate. If you tell them to share and they do it right, you will get a lot more attention online.

Music aggregators could also help you, but most of promotion is on you. So is making the actual release.

Make sure you make your release show up simultaneously on each website and that you promote your songs forever.

Seo helps you promote ©

So, make sure to promote and release well to get more attention.
